High Intensity Discharge (HID) is a new type of lighting technology that replaces the old halogen gas bulbs that use a heated tungsten filament. HID lamps operate more like vapor-filled streetlights. They do not have a filament but create light by zapping an arc between two electrodes. That arc excites a different kind of gas usually Xenon, which in turn ignites metallic salts. The light produced by an HID lighting system is 3x greater than a standard halogen bulb with less power consumption (35watts). On the road, McCulloch HID systems appear as a bright white beam, which resembles natural daylight. The bright white beam offers greater visibility and road safety. HID systems are now found in luxury equipped cars such as the top of the line BMW, Lexus and Mercedes systems.

Greater visibility and road safety a significant percentage of road accidents take place during poor driving conditions caused by inclement weather or by nighttime driving. HID light help in overcoming severe driving conditions by providing between two to three times more light than halogen lamps.

Greater service life Based on average driving of two hours a day with the headlights on, the bulbs will last approximately 4 years (3000 hours). Bulbs subjected to extended usage, harsh road conditions, and extreme temperatures will have shorter life span. An HID bulb will last three to five times as long as a halogen lamp.

Installation: McCulloch HID systems can be installed in a vehicle in 45 minutes to an hour. All that has to be done simply is to replace the factory bulb with the HID bulb, plug the HID ballast into the bulb, and connect the HID ballast power wires to the original factory wiring harness. Mount the ballast with zip tie and or double sided tape, cover showing wires with loom and your ready to enjoy greater visibility and comfort. No cutting or splicing required. Almost all installation is reversible.
